GenEd Week Caloocan Celebration

          Yearly, Interfacers showcase different skills and talents in every event that Interface Computer College organized. The institution aims not only to discover talents and skills in every student but to enhance them for their betterment as well.

          With the theme” Reaching Greater Heights through the Dynamism of General Education”, Interface Computer College-Caloocan celebrated its first ever General Education Week last August 26 & 27, 2011.

 

          As we commemorate the important events in the Philippine history and pay tribute to those people who really played a very crucial role in every Filipino’s life, the event also recognized the significance of General Education in building a society of success and discipline.

          The two-day event turned out as successful as other events that ICC (Interface Computer College) holds. Important persons of ICC like Engr. Jaime Espadilla (School President), Mr. Levvy Traqueña (Head-Curriculum and Instruction development),Mr. Dindo don Inso ( Head General Education Department), Ms. Cristina Fabian (Head-Student Affairs), Ms. Maria Consuelo Sorra (Head-IT Department), Mr. Alfon Go Tan (Branch Administrator Cabanatuan) and Mr.Christian Simms (ICC Alumni) had attended and of course they enjoyed the different contests that had fully prepared by the students and also by their respective advisers As the panel of judges, they witnessed such spectacular talents that every student presented.

          There has been dynamism within the celebration, dynamism of students’ talents that we could be proud of. But truly deserving students who possessed impressive talents took the spotlight. Louise Cecilie Galang (IT41A1) and Sharmaine Tabalansa (IT11A1) showed outstanding performances and won the first place in the declamation and oration categories. Among the five teams who took the different challenges of the CNEI race, Yellow Team (Mark Ureta, Robin Duyon, Kerrence Estrada, Venjoe San Joaquin, Jayme Noruel James ) got the first place, headed by their team captain Ms. Ailyn Bagadiong. The grand winner for the sayaw Pilipinas come from IT42P1, Sayaw Pilipinas, includes modern music with traditional Filipino choreography. Speech Choir grand prize was been given to GE21A2 as they excelled in performing “The Congo” piece.

          For the 2nd day of the event came more and more interesting and remarkable parts. A lot of prizes had been given in BINGO games, Aside from the above stated competitions, there were also an Art Exhibit and a Food Bazaar that features artistic works of students and food delicacies of every region within the Philippines.

          The main highlight of the event was the “Mutya ng GenEd”, which accentuated the Filipina beauty. Each contender represented a Philippine region, from Region 1 to Region 13 including the ARMM, CAR and NCR. They acted and dressed in their respective regions they represented. And from the set of criteria in the pageant had, Ms. Elyka Acero who represented the Region VI got the Body Beautiful Award, Ms. Shane Samson who represented the Region V got the Student Choice Award, Ms. Ronalyn Emnace who represented the Region VII got the Best National Costume Award and Ms. Merry Cristine Centeno who represented Region X got the “Ms. Photogenic”. Among the 11 candidates, five were chosen to face the question and answer portion to select a Filipina with not just a beauty but also has an intellect to represent what a real Filipina is. And from there, Ms. Merry Cristine Centeno gave her best shot and has been crowned as the “Mutya ng GenEd”.

          All contestants had given certificate and cash prizes for their untiring support and participation.

          To the CNEI officers who really exerted their efforts to make the event a success.. my congratulation. You guys really did a good job. SEE you again as we celebrate our second General Education Week next year.
